Overview

When Noale decides to beef up its flagship roadster, it doesn't look like a simple end-of-cycle facelift. The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory 2021 is a statement of intent, an object built with the cold determination of those who know exactly who they're talking to. Not to newcomers, not to Sunday riders. To riders who want the thrill of the track with a license plate in their pocket.

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory

The silhouette has gained tension without losing its coherence. The front fairing has widened, the flanks have filled out, and winglets now serve as aerodynamic shoulder pads, a direct inheritance from the world of competition. This is not decoration: at high speed, the downforce generated contributes to the stability of an already remarkable chassis. The aluminum perimeter frame, borrowed from the RSV4, forms a backbone of exemplary rigidity, with a 1450 mm wheelbase that guarantees composed behavior even in the most demanding conditions.

The Factory suffix does not designate a cosmetic special edition. It means Öhlins everywhere, in semi-active form controlled by the Smart EC 2.0 system. The 43 mm NIX inverted fork and the TTX rear shock communicate continuously with the inertial measurement unit to adapt damping in real time. Three electronic modes manage this automatically — Road, Track and Sport — but the rider can also configure everything manually, spring by spring, compression by compression. This is the kind of refinement found on machines costing twice as much, and it is precisely what justifies the asking price of €19,399.

The 65-degree V4 remains at 1077 cc, and while the RSV4 has since gained a larger displacement, this engine has not had its last word. With Euro5, the engineers could have sacrificed horsepower on the altar of compliance. They did not yield. The 175 horsepower are still there, delivered at 11,000 rpm, with 121 Nm of torque on the program. On a machine that tips the scales at 185 kg dry, the power-to-weight ratio places this Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory in a class of its own. The onboard electronics in 2021 are not limited to the suspension: six riding modes including three track-oriented ones, traction control, bidirectional quickshifter, anti-wheelie, anti-stoppie, launch control. The TFT screen has grown larger, the Magneti-Marelli 11MP ECU has gained in computing power, and the LED headlights now integrate an adaptive cornering lighting function. The list is long, but it is not hollow.

The brakes deserve special mention. The radial four-piston Brembo M50 monobloc calipers bite 330 mm floating discs with surgical precision. Ducati chose the Stylema on the Streetfighter V4, KTM has its Super Duke R, Triumph its Speed Triple 1200 RS. Each has its arguments. The Aprilia responds with this competition-derived chassis and its contact patches capable of absorbing mistakes that other machines would turn into incidents. On raw figures, the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory 2021 no longer dominates a segment that has become fiercely competitive. But on a winding road, when precision matters more than sheer brutality, few roadsters do as well. This is an expert's motorcycle, uncompromising, one that rewards those who take the time to understand and tame it. For everyone else, the standard Tuono remains a more accessible entry point into this universe. But those who seek the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory on the used market know precisely what they are hunting for, and they are right.
