Overview
So, you're looking for the quintessence of the Italian roadster, the ultimate version where no compromises are tolerated? Don't stop at a Ducati shop. Instead, turn your gaze towards Noale and this 2010 Aprilia Tuono 1000 R Factory. It's the result of a simple but radical thought: take the heart of a superbike, the RSV-R Factory, remove its fairing, and inject the rest with a massive dose of racing equipment. The principle is the same as that of the Monster S4Rs, but the Aprilia recipe has its own flavor, more raw, less refined.

At the core of the matter is this 60° V-twin engine, a powerplant that has never been a gentleman. With 139 horsepower delivered at 9500 rpm and a torque of 107 Nm arriving early, at 8500 rpm, it just wants to roar. The 2010 Factory version benefits from a bit of internal surgery – larger valves, a revised mapping – to gain a few extra horsepower. But the real transformation lies elsewhere. Aprilia has undergone surgical slimming. Showa and Sachs suspensions are evacuated to be replaced by a complete Öhlins Racing kit, 43 mm inverted fork and reservoir mono-shock. The weight drops to 181 kg dry, thanks in part to the forged OZ rims and generous use of carbon fiber on secondary components.
On the road, this philosophy translates into a palpable aggressiveness. The aluminum twin-spar frame, directly derived from the sportbike, offers perfect rigidity. Coupled with the adjustable Öhlins suspensions on all parameters, it gives a sensation of surgical precision. You don't have a naked bike, you have a stripped-down superbike, with a slightly higher ergonomics thanks to a seat at 810 mm. The braking, with its radial calipers, is brutally efficient. It's a machine that demands total involvement from its rider, it doesn't flatter, it challenges. The 18-liter fuel tank and wheelbase of 1410 mm recall that it can also play the game of long journeys, but its explosive character mainly destines it to the experienced rider seeking pure intensity, not the urban commuter or beginner.
Compared to the high-end roadsters of its time, this Aprilia Tuono 1000 R Factory positions itself as the most extreme option, the most track-oriented. It is less accessible than a KTM 990 Super Duke, less stylized than a Ducati Monster S4Rs, but it offers a mechanical connection and liveliness that may seem unmatched. Its price, around 12900 euros at the time, clearly placed this limited edition in the register of collector's items. Today, examples from 2005, 2007, 2008 or 2010 are sought-after collector's items, embodying the era when Aprilia launched its roadsters without a net, with the madness of competition in direct line. A real main course for thrill-seekers.
