Overview
When Aprilia decides not to stop halfway, it results in the RSV 1000 SP. Not a showroom evolution, not a pack of options disguised as a special edition: a machine produced in 150 copies, conceived from the start to bite into asphalt on a circuit.

The RSV-R was already serious. The SP, however, crossed the step that few manufacturers dare to take in series. The 60° V-twin developed with Cosworth reaches 150 horsepower at 11,000 rpm, a significant increase compared to the standard version. Torque follows, at 112.8 Nm available from 8,500 rpm, with an increase of around 10% achieved by playing with the fundamentals: bore increased to 100 mm, stroke reduced to 63.4 mm, compression ratio increased to 11.5:1. Cylinder heads have been reworked, valves enlarged, and intake ducts redesigned. This is not cosmetic tuning, it is applied engineering.
The chassis follows the same logic. Twin-spar aluminum, but with an adaptable geometry: steering head angle is adjustable, as are engine mounting points and swingarm. The 43 mm Öhlins inverted fork and the Öhlins mono-shock at the rear have nothing to envy to contemporary competition preparations. Ducati 996 and Honda RC51 had their own response to this segment, but few offered such a level of adjustability straight from the factory. 320 mm brakes at the front with 4-piston calipers complete the picture, while the double titanium exhaust lightens the whole and lets the voice of the engine be heard unfiltered.
At 185 kg dry, the SP benefits from massive use of carbon on bodywork elements. The result is a motorcycle that is exclusively aimed at experienced track riders, capable of exploiting its theoretical 280 km/h and managing such a sharp V-twin in a circuit context. It is pointless to present it as an Aprilia RSV 1000 SP used motorcycle accessible to all: at 30,490 euros at its release, it targeted a very specific clientele, those who do not need an additional racing kit to feel legitimate in the pits.
What makes the Aprilia RSV 1000 SP 2000 valuable is precisely this rarity coupled with a level of preparation that flirts with the limit of legality on the road. It does not claim versatility, it does not seek to seduce the everyday user. It is a motorcycle of conviction, made for those who know what they want, and who accept to pay for it without compromise.
