Overview
When Noale decides to refine a working formula, the result doesn’s shout from the rooftops. The 2026 Aprilia RS 660 update proceeds in subtle touches, without a complete overhaul. A small wing under the headlight, reworked side fairings to better evacuate heat from the twin-cylinder engine, a larger 5-inch color screen, backlit controls on the handlebar. Nothing revolutionary on paper, but the whole forms a motorcycle that further sharpens its arguments where its competitors are only just beginning to define theirs.

The engine is the heart of the matter. This 270-degree inline twin, 659 cc, with 52 mm throttle bodies, now meets Euro 5+ standards. In the process, it gains a few extra horsepower to reach 105 hp at 10,400 rpm, accompanied by 70 Nm of torque at 8,400 rpm. These figures are honest, not eye-catching. The announced top speed of 240 km/h places the Aprilia RS 660 in a clearly sporty register, without pretending to play in the hypersport arena. All this for a wet weight of 183 kg, which remains a serious figure in this category where every kilo is felt when leaning into a corner. If we look at the Yamaha R9 and its 119 hp, the Italian lags in power, but compensates with relative lightness and real accessibility. A restricted version remains available for A2 license holders, which considerably expands its customer base.
The Aprilia RS 660 technical specifications reveal an electronic endowment that far exceeds what its price suggests. APRC, the in-house control system, includes launch control, traction control, anti-wheelie, a bidirectional quickshifter, ride-by-wire, and several riding modes. Add a cruise control and engine braking control, and you get a list that would make some higher displacement machines blush. Brembo braking with its two 320 mm front discs, radial four-piston calipers, and cornering ABS relying on a six-axis inertial unit analyzes five parameters simultaneously to manage braking in curves. This is the kind of precision that was expected on machines costing 15,000 euros just a few years ago. The 41 mm inverted fork and the 130 mm stroke single rear shock complete a perimeter aluminum frame designed to faithfully transmit road information, whether on a circuit or on an alpine pass.

The new price of the Aprilia RS 660 is set at 11,800 euros, which constitutes the sledgehammer argument of this machine. Where the Yamaha R9 claims nearly 1,900 euros more for its 14 extra horsepower, the Italian offers a performance-budget ratio that is difficult to contest. One can obviously question the long-term reliability of the Aprilia RS 660, early generation feedback having pointed out a few minor electronic frailties on the 2022 and 2023 versions, but Aprilia has clearly worked on these points over the course of the evolutions. Owners who want to personalize their machine will find a well-stocked market of Aprilia RS 660 accessories, from decorative kits to aftermarket exhaust systems like Aprilia RS 660 Akrapovic, which release the already pleasant sound of the twin-cylinder engine.

The high 820 mm seat orients this model towards pilots of medium or tall stature, and the sporty but tolerable everyday riding position makes it a real all-rounder. It is not a motorcycle for absolute beginners, despite the A2 version available. It requires commitment, a certain level of mastery, and gives back tenfold when given the chance. On the Aprilia RS 660 used market, prices remain supported, a sign that demand is not waning. For less than 12,000 euros new, you mount an Italian sportbike built around a consistent philosophy: to provide pleasure without sacrificing everyday use, and to compete with the best without asking too much from the wallet.
