Overview
Having seen the R1 dominate the sportbike segment and attract admiring glances, some members of the Yamaha family have aspirations. Including the desire to share a similar look. The 700 Tracer embodies this, embracing this stage of cosmetic surgery while carefully preserving its identity. This results in a design that extends the manufacturer’s new style.
Equipped with the first Euro 5 version of the lively CP2, a 689 cm³ twin, the 2020 model reaches a new level. Featuring a new dynamic look and offering the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, the Tracer 700 is designed to deliver a host of sensations.
New fairing with new aggressive dual headlight
Featuring dual LED position lights and an LED headlight, the Tracer 700 boasts a new modern and aggressive look.
The new front end gives it a much bolder appearance. Blending with the fuel tank cover, this aerodynamic fairing offers wind and weather protection for improved comfort on long distances. The new front fender follows this new design direction to reinforce the motorcycle’s formidable new style.
689 cm³ CP2 engine
The new Tracer 700 is powered by the 689 cm³ crossplane twin, one of Yamaha’s most appreciated engines. What makes this engine so unique is its 270° crankshaft firing order, which provides an irregular ignition sequence, allowing for a linear torque response that directly answers the rider’s acceleration inputs.
For 2020, this engine is enhanced with optimized injection and ignition parameters, a redesigned air intake, optimized exhaust parameters, and a modified exhaust system that allows this engine to meet EU5 standards. Delivering maximum power at 8,750 rpm with maximum torque at 6,500 rpm, the Tracer 700’s engine provides an exhilarating riding experience. The wide torque range guarantees strong acceleration, and with a modified final drive ratio, the 2020 model is even more responsive.
Lightest in its class, best power-to-weight ratio
Featuring a lightweight tubular frame and an aluminum swingarm offering a lengthened wheelbase (+10 mm) of 1,460 mm, the Tracer 700’s compact chassis is among the most agile in the Sport Touring segment. With the lowest curb weight in its class, barely 196 kg, combined with its captivating engine, the Tracer 700 offers the best power-to-weight ratio.
Adjustable front and rear suspension
To allow the Tracer 700 owner to explore the full potential of the motorcycle, the new model is equipped with an improved 41 mm cartridge-type fork. Spring preload has been adjusted to optimize handling. The 2020 model allows adjustment of the damper’s rebound and preload. Thanks to the adjustable damper, the motorcycle is easy to configure to suit different rider weights and different road conditions.
Aerodynamic bubble with one-hand adjustment
The Tracer 700 is equipped with a slim aerodynamic bubble, with superior optical quality. The height of the bubble can be adjusted by more than 60 mm with one hand. Furthermore, handguards offer additional protection from wind and weather.
Upright riding position
The Tracer 700 is designed to offer an upright riding position. It features a 34 mm wider handlebar, to which accessories can be attached. Just like the new shape of the seat, the handlebar improves ergonomics for more comfort and control on long distances.
Two-place seat with sculpted shape for rider and passenger comfort
Whether riding solo or with a passenger, the new one-piece seat offers increased comfort for the rider and passenger. It offers greater freedom in choosing the riding position. The front section integrates perfectly with the tank and fairing to allow a good knee grip, while the sculpted profile offers better support for the rider during acceleration.
The rear of the seat is slightly higher, offering a more comfortable position for the passenger. The new seat also features details such as stitching that adds a touch of style.
Negative LCD dashboard
One of the new features of the Tracer 700 is the negative LCD dashboard with a multifunctional screen. The tachometer or gear indicator are in color. The rider can easily adjust the screen using a button located on the left side of the handlebar.
LED turn signals
Compact LED turn signals have been installed. At the front, they are integrated under the new handguards.
