Overview

Since the R6 is no longer available in a road version, its fans have only the track to console themselves with. With two versions in the catalog. First, the R6 Race, simply freed from everything that isn't needed: headlights, turn signals, mirrors, etc. Perfect for immediately scraping sliders…

…And the GYTR, already more suited to chasing lap times and smelling the scent of competition. The SuperSport is thus widely improved in order to extract all of its potential. Weight reduction, increased efficiency, and radicality are on the program.

The R6 GYTR is offered with a bare fairing, in fiberglass reinforced with carbon fiber tips. All that’s left to do is apply your own livery, your sponsors, and the signatures of paddock stars. Once the personalization workshop is complete, the rider will be able to enjoy a more racing level of comfort, with mass-machined, adjustable set-back controls and a racing seat.

No need for a key with the GYTR. A simple button allows for ignition. The same goes for refueling; the filler cap is keyless. Starting up will allow the titanium Akrapovic exhaust to sing, but before that, it is possible to modify the engine's behavior. In addition to the racing harness, this R6 is equipped with a programmable Superstock type ECU. The breathing of the 4-cylinder is simplified with a set of plates allowing the AIS air intake system with its tubing and cartridges to be removed.

Very useful on the road, ABS is not necessarily appreciated in competition. An emulator allows the pump to be scrapped in order to gain weight. Stripped of this module and the road hardware, the R6 GYTR announces 5 kilos less. There are no changes to the 4-piston radial calipers, but pre-installed Avia' hoses are standard. The transmission also receives improvements to gain efficiency and sensations, with a 520 pitch chain kit. Fussy, the kit to reverse the gear selection is optional.

Oh, by the way, the FIM imposes certain parts. So, they are already in place. This concerns the brake lever protection and another for the rear sprocket. A rear stand and the appropriate bobbins are also in the pack.

Voilà, more than enough to fill up, remove the heated covers (not supplied) and weld. The 118 horsepower engine is really happy only when howling its watts, with the end of the straight line as the only limit. Small problem, the R6 GYTR is only available at GYTR Pro Shops. There are only 5 in Europe, but Yamaha plans to expand the network.
