Overview
When an endurance team secures second place overall in the world championship and comes within a whisker of victory at the legendary Suzuka 8 Hours, the temptation to capitalize on the achievement is strong. Yamaha Europe and the YART GYTR Pro Shop couldn't resist, and no one's going to blame them. The result takes the form of an R1 1000 dressed in the colors of the Austrian squad, available in three levels of preparation: base, Evo, and Factory. Three tiers for three degrees of madness, so to speak.

Right from the entry-level version, the spec sheet is dizzying. The 998 cc Crossplane inline four-cylinder, with its distinctive 270-180-90-180 degree firing order, delivers 200 horsepower at 13,500 rpm and 113.8 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm. This engine is a familiar quantity: fierce, expressive, endowed with a character that the ZX-10R or S1000RR powerplants don't quite replicate. Here, it breathes through a full Akrapovic exhaust system and benefits from a dedicated radiator kit to withstand the longest track sessions. All of this sits within a Deltabox aluminum frame that keeps the wet weight down to 196 kg, including the 17-liter fuel tank. On paper, it's a circuit weapon.
The chassis package confirms this track-only calling without the slightest ambiguity. Öhlins supplies the 43 mm FGK 219 inverted fork and the TTX YA468 rear shock, complemented by a steering damper. Braking duties fall to Brembo with GP4-RX radial calipers, Z04 track-spec pads, 320 mm T-Drive front discs, and a Corsacorta master cylinder. Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, fitted with Bridgestone V02 slicks, replace the stock rims. This is no longer a road-legal sportbike that occasionally ventures onto the track. This is a barely disguised racing machine.

The equipment list drives the point home: racing ECU, rearsets, quick-change rear wheel system, ABS emulator for deactivation, carbon fiber bodywork, engine case protectors, MRA windscreen, brake lever guard, and programmable switchgear. Every part, bearing the GYTR, YART, or GB Racing name, addresses a concrete need during intensive track riding. Nothing cosmetic here. The base version is priced at €39,999 excluding taxes, with delivery included across Europe. For those who want to push the envelope further, the Evo variant upgrades the Öhlins and Brembo components even further, while the Factory version includes engine work raising output to 220 horsepower. The tax-inclusive price of the mid-tier version climbs to €47,999. We're entering a pricing stratosphere where only committed track riders and collectors sign the check without flinching.

Yamaha announces limited production without specifying the exact volume. The previous edition, in 2022, numbered only 20 units. One can reasonably expect a figure in the same ballpark. This is not a motorcycle for Sunday morning rides on the back roads of Provence. It is an object of raw passion, reserved for riders who know how to exploit such a level of preparation and who have a substantial budget for maintenance, tires, and track days. Against a Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 or a BMW M 1000 RR, this R1 YART plays a different card: that of endurance, rarity, and a very tangible racing heritage. Not just a sticker on a fairing, but a genuine extension of the machine that battled under the floodlights of Suzuka.
