Overview
In 2014, the America received a touch more custom flair. A series of elements to please, which is hard to refuse, especially when you're English with an American accent. Chrome? With pleasure, to adorn the battery cover as well as the chain and clutch casings. A little machining on the twin’s cooling fins to make them noticeable, new silencers to improve its song. Let’s finish the walkaround by discovering rubber knee protectors on the tank, the exchange of footrests for footpegs, and the improvement of the foot controls: a wider brake pedal and a double-branch gear selector.
Within Triumph’s cruiser range, the America was the first English model of the renewal to adopt a very American look. Since then, the Rocket III and the Thunderbird have broadened the horizon. As a result, the America becomes the smallest but also the least expensive and most accessible of Hinckley’s customs. A few modifications are to its credit for 2011, just to refresh it a bit (it has only evolved mechanically since its release in 2001).
Ergonomically, the rider sits lower as the saddle drops to 690 mm. A handlebar further back and advanced controls allow for a cooler riding position. The front rim changes from 18" to 16" while adopting a wider tire. A few touches of a burly look adorn the machine: a new headlight, a bullet-shaped instrument cluster, elongated mirrors, and turn signals that move from the handlebar to the fork. Insensible to diplomatic V-Twin engines, the America (like the Speedmaster and the Thunderbird) entrusts its dynamic performance to a parallel-twin. Here, we find as on the previous generation the 865 cm3 and its 61 horsepower. Same engine and same weight... The ride should evolve only through the new profile of the front rim. As for the price, it gently moves away from 9,000 euros.
