Overview
Imagine a motor so large you could almost sit in it, grafted onto a frame that seems hewn from a tree trunk. The Suzuki Intruder M 1800 R BOSS is not a motorcycle, it's a rolling statement of intent. In 2016, Suzuki released this 1783 cm³ beast for one reason: to remind everyone that the custom is also about muscle and attitude, not just chrome and glitter. With its 125 horsepower and, above all, its abyssal torque of 158.9 Nm available from 3200 rpm, this beast slams you into the seat with the subtlety of a punch to the stomach. It's a mechanical design that prioritizes a frontal assault over refinement.

Everything in its design screams provocation. The BOSS version pushes the concept even further with a total, deep, and absorbing black that swallows light on every part, from the engine to the calipers. Only a colored flame, acidic and vibrant, pierces this darkness, like a warning before the storm. This aesthetic is not insignificant; it directly targets the ego of the rider of this machine. With its 240 mm wide rear tire, 43 mm inverted fork, and radial four-piston braking, it has the dimensions and equipment to tame its own fury. Yet, at 347 kg fully fueled, it is not the most agile. It imposes its tempo: heavy, assured, dominant.
Facing the competition, like a Harley-Davidson Softail or a Yamaha VMAX of the time, Suzuki plays a different card. It relies less on pure heritage than on a mixture of dragster and custom, with this shaft drive that offers it unparalleled robustness for long stretches. It is immeasurably long, scandalously low with a 70 cm seat, and its 19.5-liter tank avoids too frequent tears. But it is a motorcycle with character, demanding, which forgives few piloting errors and whose five-speed gearbox may seem a little archaic.
So, who is this colossus for? Certainly not a beginner, who would be swallowed whole. It is the mount of the bearded traveler who prefers authority to refinement, of the rider who seeks less peak performance than a sensation of brute and inexhaustible power. At 15,000 euros new, it was a bold gamble. A gamble that, it must be admitted, did not meet with immense commercial success. But that is precisely what makes it today a unique object, a piece of conviction for those who want a custom without compromise, capable of rivaling the demons of the road without ever pretending to be a work of art. It does not caress the gaze, it challenges it. And on the road, it does not lull you, it shakes you.
