Overview

Is it still possible to create a motorcycle that provokes an immediate desire, a raw urge before even turning the key? MV Agusta answers with the Superveloce 800 Oro, an object that transcends simple mechanics to become an aesthetic statement. This machine does not emerge from an anonymous design office, but directly from a show concept so successful that the production version seems like a mere formality. They added the turn signals, adjusted a few details for homologation, and there you have it: the dream is in production, limited to 300 units. At nearly €28,000, it doesn't appeal to reason, but exclusively to passion.

MV Agusta Superveloce 800 Oro

Technically, it shares its heart and chassis with the F3 800. The three-cylinder engine delivers 148 horsepower at 13,000 rpm, 88 Nm of torque at 10,600 rpm, housed in a gold-plated steel trellis frame. It's a performant and safe base, but the real miracle is that this technical kinship disappears under the stroke of the designer's pencil. The Superveloce 800 Oro develops an autonomous, neo-retro and deeply sensual personality. Its profile is a caress for the eye, from the leather-strapped tank to the circular rear light, a mischievous wink. The Alcantara saddle, the specific exhaust system, the spoked wheels and the carbon fiber parts scattered throughout enhance its "Oro" status. Only the bubble and the yellow headlight from the prototype were sacrificed for administrative paperwork, a small frustration for purists.

The equipment justifies the premium. The instrumentation is a connected 5-inch TFT screen, inherited from the Brutale 1000, allowing assistance management via smartphone. It also includes the quickshifter, ABS with wheelie control, 8-level traction control and four riding modes. The Arrow racing kit is included, releasing an additional 5 horsepower and reducing weight by 8 kg, even softening the character for smoother reactions than the F3. The suspensions are fully adjustable, the 43 mm inverted fork and the single shock absorber are specific, and the riding position is revised for a little more comfort. This MV Agusta Superveloce 800 Oro is therefore not a simple empty shell, but a skillful sportbike, even if its essence remains style.

Compared to a Ducati SuperSport or a Triumph Speed Triple RS, the Superveloce doesn't play in the same pragmatic league. It is the antithesis of rationality. Its audience is that of the collector, the aesthete, the one who seeks a mechanical sculpture capable of riding. With 173 kg dry weight and a 16.5-liter tank, it is not the lightest or most enduring of neo-retro sportbikes, but every gram seems dedicated to the appearance. It is a motorcycle that seizes your impulses, a visual trap from which one does not emerge unscathed. Approach it, and you will understand that sometimes, emotion precedes all logic.
