Overview
You waited, you dreamed, and now it’s here. The MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Oro isn’t a motorcycle that arrives discreetly. It makes its entrance with the roar of a legendary engine and the audacity of a design that has never really known modesty. At nearly €70,000, it’s not aimed at the masses, but at those seeking the ultimate expression of a sportbike dressed in evening wear. It’s a mechanical work of art, a statement, and above all, a brutal reminder that MV Agusta still knows how to shake the ground.

Its heart is a four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Brutale 1000, but here, it’s staged like a star. 208 horsepower at 13,000 rpm, 116.7 Nm of torque that demands to be hunted high in the rev range. Compared to a ZX-10R or an R1, it’s not more powerful on paper, but it carries a different aura. It’s not a pure track weapon, it’s a sculpture that can, if asked, spit out its venom. The optional racing kit even pushes the bar to 212 horsepower, a figure that almost makes you laugh for a motorcycle that will mainly be admired in front of a café.
The design is an exercise in extreme style. It reprises the retro-futuristic codes of the Superveloce 800, but with multiplied aggression. Winglets, massive air ducts, a rear fairing that looks like it came from a science fiction film, and those Arrow titanium exhausts placed under the seat, a direct homage to the glorious F4. It’s provocative, almost erotic. The wheels, a mix of forged stars and spokes, are an aluminum masterpiece. Everything is done so that your gaze can no longer detach itself, even when you are stopped.
The chassis is worthy of this engine. The signature MV trellis frame, aluminum side plates, and a magnificent, height-adjustable aluminum single-sided swingarm as well. The suspensions are the latest generation Öhlins NIX and TTX, controlled by Smart EC 2.0 electronics. Braking is provided by Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers. It is equipped with specific Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires. Everything is high-end, everything is designed for performance, but with an Italian grace that is sorely lacking in its Japanese competitors.
The riding position, however, reveals an interesting duality. Unlike a pure hypersport, it’s not extremely radical. The clip-on handlebars and adjustable footrests offer a sporty, but not unbearable, posture. It’s a machine you might consider for a winding road, not just for the showroom. The electronics are abundant: 5.5-inch TFT screen, smartphone connectivity, 8-level traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, four riding modes, cruise control. It is as intelligent as it is beautiful.

The Superveloce 1000 Oro is therefore a creature of contradiction. It weighs 194 kg dry, promises 300 km/h, spits out 208 horsepower, but presents itself as a work of art limited to 500 units. Its audience? The demanding collector, the wealthy aesthete, the rider who wants a unique machine capable of insane performance, but also of provoking admiration at every parking spot. It doesn’t directly compete with a Ducati Panigale V4. It exists in a segment it defines itself: neo-retro hypersport, where power serves style, and where price is the guarantee of exclusivity. MV Agusta, once again, has created a motorcycle that will not be judged by its dashboard alone, but by the way it captures the light and makes the heart beat. It’s a bold gamble, and at this price, it’s also a very elitist one.
