Overview
Eleven examples, not one more. That's the number MV Agusta chose for its 2010 vintage F4 1000 R Frecce Tricolori, a direct reference to the eleven Aermacchi MB-339 aircraft that make up the famous Italian aerobatic display team. A number that induces vertigo, almost as much as the 31,990 euros required to acquire this rolling collector's piece. At MV, the link between sky and asphalt is nothing new. As early as 2006, the Veltro was already paying tribute to Italian fighter aviation. With this Frecce Tricolori, the Varese factory pushes the envelope even further in terms of spectacle.

On the mechanical front, we find the 998 cc inline four-cylinder that forged the F4 R's reputation. The engine develops 186 horsepower at 12,900 rpm and 111.8 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm, all with a 13:1 compression ratio and oversquare bore and stroke dimensions of 76 x 55 mm. Dry, the beast tips the scales at 192 kg, placing it in the upper average among hypersports of the era, against a lighter Ducati 1198 S or a more technologically advanced BMW S 1000 RR. The chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame remains an MV signature, rigid and precise, suspended by a 50 mm inverted fork and a monoshock each offering 120 mm of travel. Braking relies on two 320 mm front discs with radial-mount four-piston calipers. The claimed top speed of 305 km/h is a reminder that this machine is not merely a showpiece.
What sets this special edition apart is obviously its livery. The fairing reproduces the exact decoration of the display team's aircraft, with that deep blue crossed by the three green-white-red stripes of the Italian flag. The wheels are model-specific, fitted with Pirelli Diablo Superbike tires, and several carbon and titanium elements underscore the exclusive character of the whole. Each example bears a numbered silver plate on the steering head, linking the motorcycle to a specific aircraft in the formation. The attention to detail here borders on obsession.
MV Agusta even took care of the delivery ceremony. The eleven owners collect their machine at the Rivolto military base, headquarters of the Frecce Tricolori, with a full day spent alongside the display team's pilots. What you're buying here is far more than a motorcycle. You're buying a story, a ritual, a sense of belonging. With its seat perched at 860 mm and its 17-liter fuel tank, the F4 Frecce Tricolori makes no claim to being a versatile tourer. It is aimed at passionate collectors, capable of appreciating the mechanics as much as the symbol. Against other limited-edition runs of the era, this MV plays a card that no one else can lay on the table. That of Italian beauty pushed to excess, with a whiff of jet fuel thrown in for good measure.
