Overview
When it comes to dominating world circuits, one name consistently emerges as a winning mantra: the Kawasaki ZX-10R 1000 WSBK. In 2016, it doesn't arrive on conquered ground; it *is* the ground that others must conquer. With a track record that makes the competition pale and a duo of champion riders like Rea and Sykes, the green machine seems firmly installed on a throne. But beware, the contenders are not sleeping. The new-generation Yamaha R1 has shown its teeth in Superstock, and the Ducati Panigale R, constantly more refined, is holding back. Facing them, the other Japanese bikes, the CBR and the GSX-R, seem a little restrained, as if withdrawn from a development that is too timid.

Yet, Kawasaki hasn't rested on its laurels. The base series model of this Ninja has been refined with precision surgery: more intrusive electronics, reworked Showa suspensions, everything has been optimized to serve as the foundation for the WSBK transformation. The result? A war machine that, in terms of pure performance, borders on MotoGP machinery. We're talking about approximately 240 horsepower for a chassis that must respect a minimum weight of 168 kg. The ratio is simply frightening. It’s no longer a motorcycle; it’s a guided projectile controlled by an onboard computer and the will of the rider.
The price, however, is commensurate with its ambition: €180,000. A sum that places this Kawasaki ZX-10R 1000 WSBK in another dimension, that of pure competition machines, reserved for racing teams and the most fortunate gentleman riders. It’s not a machine for the road, nor even for Sunday track days. It’s a tool designed for one thing only: winning races. The aluminum frame, the radial monoblock braking system, the 998 cm3 engine screaming, everything is subject to this obsession.
Facing it, the new Yamaha R1 promises a tight battle, with perhaps more intuitive electronics and a different character. Ducati, for its part, relies on the fury of its V2 and a more physical riding style. But the Kawasaki has the science of victory on its side, a mechanical system honed by years of domination and a team that knows how to transform pressure into success. Its flaw? Perhaps a certain coldness, the efficiency of a machine so perfect that it becomes intimidating. It doesn’t forgive, it executes.
Who should target this motorcycle? Only the professional racer or the enlightened amateur with an unlimited budget and a team of mechanics in their wake. For others, the series version of the ZX-10R remains a superb reference. But here, you’re buying more than a motorcycle: you’re buying a piece of the World Championship history, a tool to write your own legend on the asphalt. The 2016 season promises to be electric, and the queen, for the first time in a long time, may feel the breath of her rivals on her back. It is precisely in these moments that she is most dangerous.
