Overview

Ten units. Not one more. When Kawasaki Germany decides to transform its ZX-10RR Performance into a WorldSBK replica, it does so with the restraint of a Swiss watchmaker. This 2024 Ninja 1000 ZX-10RR WSBK Edition is not simply a paint job on a production sportbike. It is a rolling collector's item, conceived by and for those obsessed with World Superbike — the kind who know every line Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes take by heart.

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ZX-10RR WSBK-Edition

The concept is simple yet devastatingly effective. Kawasaki entrusted ten ZX-10RR Performance machines directly to its racing team, set up for the occasion at the importer's facility in Friedrichsdorf. The livery was replicated as closely as possible to the factory bikes, to the point where you could swear you were looking at Rea's machine rolling out of the Phillip Island pit lane. The only thing missing is the rider's number, and that is precisely where the owner comes in: an exclusive presentation box accompanies each unit, containing two sets of stickers to display Rea's 65 or Lowes' 22. Also included are two certificates of authenticity signed by the riders themselves, a dedicated keychain, and a glass block with the ZX-10R silhouette laser-engraved inside. Fan service taken to its absolute peak.

Beneath the warrior's skin, the mechanicals are no pretender either. The 998 cc inline four-cylinder puts out 205 horsepower at 14,000 rpm and 112.8 Nm of torque at 11,700 rpm, thanks to Pankl connecting rods and pistons engineered for the track and dedicated camshafts. The 2024 model year introduces the V.A.I. system, which alters intake tract length to optimize cylinder filling. A telling detail about this machine's true purpose: the system comes deactivated from the factory. Separate racing parts must be purchased to make it operational. Kawasaki makes no secret of it — this motorcycle was born for the track.

The rest of the equipment confirms this uncompromising focus. Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, radially mounted Brembo M50 calipers biting 330 mm discs, a 43 mm Showa BPF inverted fork, four riding modes, and an Akrapovic exhaust that wraps the outlet in carbon fiber while freeing up a few extra horsepower. All of this held together by a perimeter-style aluminum twin-spar frame that keeps weight at 206 kg wet. For comparison, the BMW M 1000 RR posts a similar weight with greater power output, while the Ducati Panigale V4 R plays in an entirely different price bracket. With its 17-liter tank and seat perched at 835 mm, the Kawasaki makes no claim to versatility. All it wants is to lap, fast, between the curbs.

Then there is the matter of price: 33,145 euros, roughly 2,400 euros more than the standard ZX-10RR Performance. For a factory livery and a collector's presentation box, the premium seems reasonable, especially considering only ten units were produced. Admittedly, this is a far cry from Yamaha's approach with its R1 GYTR Pro, which pushes the technical envelope far higher at five times the price. The Kawasaki WSBK Edition trades more on emotion than on deep mechanical transformation. But for anyone who dreams of riding a replica of the six-time world champion machine, the thrill is very real. And at 300 km/h at the end of a straight, the gap with the actual factory weapon comes down to a few seconds on the clock. A few seconds the heart never measures.
