Overview

Today, owning an Indian is more than just appreciating a legendary brand. It’s riding a spirit, a mechanical cathedral, and shelling out a sum that’s frankly unreasonable. But we can go further, more extravagant, and succumb to this special series of the Chief Vintage. Named L.E. for Limited Edition, because you’re unlikely to see many: only 35 will be made.

This exceptional motorcycle gains presence and equipment: even more chrome, distressed leather saddlebags, a passenger backrest and a quick-release luggage rack, and to sprinkle the charm, a superb two-tone paint job (White Pearl and Black Thunder).

Would we forget the engine? Not at all. Huge, gleaming, fantastical, the Power Plus twin is to be contemplated as much as to be enjoyed. Don't look for performance from it: its output is ridiculous, its power worthy of a diesel, and these kinds of flaws, everyone ignores them on a motorcycle of this caliber. What is asked of it is to live with breath as much as with beauty. Coupled with a 6-speed transmission, these 1720 cm3 and its near 14 mkg of torque will be enough to move the 340 kg (dry weight) of the Indian at a senatorial pace.

Announced for around $38,000 in the US, the Vintage Chief L.E. will easily shatter the $40,000 euro mark here… provided that a few units are imported. Facing it, only a few Harley CVO and Victory Ness models can express a few thoughts.
