Overview
Two years. That's how long it took Noale to refine its work and produce an even sharper RSV-R. Not a revolution — a surgical evolution, the kind of update that doesn't read well in press releases but makes itself felt at the handlebars, in the first meters on track. Aprilia doesn't rebuild its motorcycle; it chisels it.

The first detail that catches the eye is that golden fork. And here, be careful not to be mistaken: this is not the Factory model, but the RSV-R still inherits a 43 mm Öhlins inverted fork with titanium nitride treatment. The kind of component found on homologated racing machines, not on a sportbike sold to the general public for €14,499. The rake reduced to 25 degrees enhances stability without killing agility — a delicate balance that few manufacturers master as well as the Italians.
Beneath the revised fairing, the 60-degree V-twin, topped with a magnesium casing, benefits from exhaust valves enlarged to 33 mm, optimized intake, and a revised Siemens electronic mapping. The result: 143 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, 101 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm, housed in an aluminum twin-spar frame that weighs just 189 kg dry. The claimed top speed approaches 280 km/h. This V-twin knows how to be docile exiting slow corners and ferocious when pushed through the upper gears. The six-speed gearbox handles all of it without complaint.
Aerodynamically, Aprilia rethought the entire fairing to better manage heat flows and reduce drag. The new double-curvature screen improves rider protection on the highway without sacrificing visibility in a tucked position. The raised tail section, with its LED taillight, further sharpens the silhouette. The line is taut, predatory, coherent from nose to tail.
Then there is the question of the competitive landscape, and here the picture becomes less flattering for Aprilia. In 2009, the Ducati 1098 changed the rules of the game by comfortably crossing the one-liter displacement threshold, developing over 160 horsepower, and imposing a radically different philosophy with its L-twin engine. The RSV-R, well-bred as it is, faces a rival that no longer plays on quite the same field. Even so, the Noale machine remains a benchmark for those seeking a versatile hypersport, equally capable on track and on a beautiful winding road. It speaks to a demanding rider, technically confident, who appreciates Italian refinement without necessarily surrendering to the excesses of raw power. A thoroughbred track weapon, perfected in every detail, and one that deserves better than to be overshadowed simply by its Bolognese rival's displacement advantage.
